Kuala Lumpur, 26 July 2021 – PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) is amplifying the Food Bank Programme at over 400 participating PETRONAS stations nationwide to reach out to more Malaysians affected by the ongoing pandemic.

The effort, which was first initiated by individual station dealers, is now augmented by contributions from good Samaritans from the stations’ surrounding communities who have come forward to join the cause.

PDB has to date allocated RM600,000 worth of food supply to amplify the programme so it could reach more beneficiaries.

Speaking on the initiative, PDB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Azrul Osman Rani said: “In this challenging time, it is heartwarming to see Malaysians come together to help those truly in need, and this includes our station dealers. We appreciate this gesture of goodwill and together, we can scale it up for greater impact. We leverage on our physical network, enabled our digital avenues and want to make it easy for everyone to join in the cause.”

Through new features in Setel, beneficiaries and those who prefer to contribute physically can search for the programme’s participating stations. Setel users can also opt to purchase food bank packs from their vehicle through Deliver2Me while at the station.

Members of the public can also contribute online from the safety of their homes. Mesra members can redeem and convert their points into food bank packs through the Setel application. Food bank packs can also be purchased directly from the PRYSM website (https://www.petronasmerchandise.com). All online contributions leverage on PDB’s value chain network and will be delivered to the chosen state nationwide, at no added cost to the contributors.

“PDB makes zero profit from these contributions so everyone can be assured that every ringgit goes directly to the beneficiaries. We hope to rally companies and the public alike with this programme. We are also working closely with other government-linked companies (GLCs), our business partners and within the PETRONAS Group for wider reach and greater impact. This is an encouraging start, and we look forward to sharing more updates on this initiative,” Azrul said, adding that PDB is also exploring collaborations to sustain the programme in the longer term.

Recently, PDB handed out coffee and snacks to 20,000 frontliners nationwide through its PETRONAS Coffee Break Campaign, for them to re-energise amidst the battle against the pandemic. The Coffee Break items were delivered to frontliners stationed at vaccination centres, hospitals, roadblocks, and quarantine centres as well as to delivery riders who stopped by at any of the participating PETRONAS stations.

Azrul explained: “The PETRONAS Coffee Break Campaign is in its 23rd year now and typically benefits motorists travelling back to their hometowns during festive seasons. Due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, we have redirected our contribution to the frontliners, in hopes that our gesture can lift their spirits and remind them to rest and recharge.

“I would like to thank our partners for continuing to support this cause over the years,” he said.

The campaign partners include Nestlé Products Sdn Bhd, Delfi Marketing Sdn Bhd, iNova Pharmaceuticals (Singapore) Pte Ltd (Malaysia Branch), Julie’s Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, Shopee Mobile Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Karabao Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd, S.L. Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd, Yee Lee Trading Co. Sdn Bhd and Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn Bhd.
