MANJUNG, PERAK, 29 March 2020 -Malaysians are showing their appreciation in many different ways to the frontliners who are working tirelessly during the restricted movement order (RMO). DBE Gurney Resources Bhd. wanted to do the same, as their gesture to thank the frontliners, but slightly in a different way than others. Yesterday, the affordable property developer in Perak donated 7 tonnes of fresh vegetables to all the frontliners working in Manjung. The vegetables worth RM30,000 from Cameron Highlands were distributed to the frontliners with the help from Manjung Municipal Council (MPM).
DBE Gurney handed the vegetables to MPM for distribution to the frontliners who remained on duty during the RMO, in stages to avoid large crowd gathering during the distribution process.
Yang Dipertua of MPM, Shamsul Hazeman Md Salleh thanked DBE Gurney Resources Bhd. for responding to the government’s initiative to contribute to the cause with donations for the frontliners who have been working all-round to contain the spread.
“The Manjung Municipal Council through its Department of Community and Social Development will schedule the distribution of these fresh cucumber, sawi, kailan, salad, cabbage and bak choy to the frontliners accordingly in small batches to avoid massive gatherings during this quarantine period,” he said.
Law and safety enforcers including Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Jabatan Bomba Malaysia, the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA) and healthcare personnel (hospital and department of health) have been on duty round the clock to ensure that residents in Manjung will not be at risk of contracting Covid-19.
“We will also be sending this donation to orphanages, old folks home, tahfiz schools, e-Kasih recipients and the poor living within our district as they are more at risk of the virus if exposed. We hope that this good will from corporations will motivate our frontliners to continue their efforts to keep the district safe until 14 April 2020, or until further notice,” he added.
DBE Gurney Resources Bhd. was represented by Project Planner, Mohd Shukri bin Bongsu. “We plan to expand our donation drive to other parts of Perak that are affected by the RMO next week. Our focus now is to reduce their financial burden as much as we can during this testing period,” he said.
