MANJUNG, PERAK, 29 March 2020 – Residents of a newly opened affordable township, Bandar Baru Setia Awan Perdana (BBSAP) were pleasantly surprised when their developer, Taraf Nusantara Sdn. Bhd. visited into their township bringing groceries and a tonne of fresh vegetables to distribute to all households as part of their initiatives to reduce their burden during the Restricted Movement Order (RMO) at noon yesterday.

The groceries and fresh vegetables which were delivered straight from Cameron Highlands worth RM50,000 were distributed by a team of volunteers from Taraf Nusantara and the BBSAP Residents Association.

Farid Omar, Sales Manager, Taraf Nusantara Sdn. Bhd. with his team brought basic necessities including rice, fresh vegetables, instant noodles, noodles, sugar, oil, eggs and many more.  “We understand with the Restricted Movement Order (RMO) implemented until 14 April 2020, it is difficult for the residents to buy their groceries. We believe that this small donation from us can help to relieve their burden during this testing period,” he said.

Some of the groceries that were delivered to Bandar Baru Setia Awan Perdana residents to relieve their burden during the RMO.

“There are more than 1,000 residents living in Phase 1 of Bandar Baru Setia Awan Perdana at the moment since we handed over the key in April last year. There are many new families with young children here, so it is quite risky for them to be out and about all the time. We hope that our residents will continue to take extra care of themselves during this quarantine period and practise extra precautions until the government declares that it is safe to go out again,” he added.

Farid also said that Taraf Nusantara planned to send more food and groceries in stages to the residents. The items include 5kg rice packets (425 units), 1kg sugar (850 units), 1kg cooking oil (850 units), 40-piece tea packets (425 units), canned sardine (850 units), eggs (425 trays), 1kg flour (850 units), instant noodle (850 units), 500-g dried anchovies packets (425 units) and so on.

According to the President of BBSAP Phase 1 Residents, Mohd Nor Safarin Mansor, there are about 400 children below the age of 12 and about 70 senior citizens living in the township. “Today we have delivered the donations to residents of 254 homes here. In fact, we have decided to share the groceries donated to about 80 homes in Sungai Wangi, Lekir and the Pekan Gurney Police Station,” he said.

Bandar Baru Setia Awan Perdana is one of Taraf Nusantara’s affordable home projects that was launched in 2016. To date, Phase 2 is also completed pending the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) while Phase 3 is expected to complete at the end of 2021. The township provides Malaysians affordable landed property from as low as RM135,000 per unit. Upon full completion, five phases of this township will boast a number of 10,500 affordable home units.
