Kuala Lumpur, 5 April 2020 – The past few weeks have been unprecedented times for everyone in Malaysia as we witnessed the implementation of the Government’s Movement Control Order as part of its efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in our country.
The Ministry of Health (MOH)’s quick response in activating the necessary health security measures, alongside the dedication of our nation’s healthcare professionals have given all of us a fighting chance to break the chain of infection and prevent the virus from spreading further. This is by no means a surmountable task, especially for the doctors, nurses and hospital staff who have been called upon to serve on the frontline. Despite being highly exposed to the risk of getting infected, they remain steadfast in carrying out their duties, working incredibly long hours to screen, treat and care for those in need of medical attention as a result of COVID-19.
In appreciation of the sacrifices and selfless contributions made by our country’s COVID-19 Healthcare Frontliners, AIA Malaysia through AIA Touching Lives – our corporate social responsibility programme – has pledged RM2 million to provide financial support to all doctors, nurses and hospital staff working at the MOH designated hospitals and screening facilities involved in the handling of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia.
The support is provided effective 1 March 2020 and will be available until 30 June 2020, or when the RM2 million fund is fully disbursed (whichever is earlier).
