Kuala Lumpur, March 3, 2017: After 28 years of operations, AEON Taman Maluri Shopping Centre, which is among the first shopping centers in Kuala Lumpur, is being given an upgrade and makeover.

The Shopping Centre, opened in 1988, will be upgraded to cater to the changing needs, demands and demographics of the Cheras community and to provide a new refreshing level of shopping experience to customers.

“The upgrade will entail expanding floor space, introducing new tenants, a better retail mix and merchandise assortments to serve our customers better and provide an enriching shopping experience that will enrich our customers lifestyle in line with our philosophy of ‘Customer First’,” said AEON Malaysia managing director Shinobu Washizawa.

The renovation and building expansion works, which had commenced in early February, will be carried out in stages with care for minimal disruption to the current operations and customer convenience, Washizawa added.

“The upgrading works at the AEON Taman Maluri Shopping Centre will be carried out in two phases. Phase one which includes building expansion will be over a period of 26 months,”

“While phase two encompassing renovation of the existing stores spaces will be over a 6- month period,” he added.

Washizawa stated the existing supermarket and departmental stores will continue to be opened for business during the renovation period even during phase two when only certain sections are expected to be closed in stages.

The whole renovation and building expansion of AEON Taman Maluri Shopping Center is expected to be fully completed by October 2019.

He further added that the opening of MRT station this year, right in front of the shopping center, will further complement the shopping center as customers can easily reach and access the mall with convenience.

The renovation and expansion works will incorporate and complement this new transportation route to provide added convenience and easy access for our customers to patronize AEON Taman Maluri Shopping Centre.

The upgrading of AEON Taman Maluri Shopping Centre is part of continuous efforts by the company to constantly refurbish its stores and malls to meet the changing demands and needs of its customers.
