KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11: Aireen Omar has been appointed chairperson of the inaugural Board of Directors of AI Malaysia Bhd.
AI Malaysia Bhd, the Ministry of Digital’s lead agency, coordinates the national artificial intelligence (AI) agenda, promotes safe and responsible AI adoption and drives the National AI Action Plan 2026 to 2030 towards achieving AI Nation 2030.
The appointment followed the launch of AI Malaysia by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 28.
Aireen is currently a board member of Tune Protect Group Berhad and an adjunct professor at Universiti Malaysia Sabah. She has more than 20 years of experience in business transformation, technology and regional growth.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the inaugural Board brings together leaders from the public and private sectors with experience spanning national transformation and public policy, digital economy development, investment and AI innovation.
“The establishment of AI Malaysia provides the nation with a dedicated institution to lead
and coordinate its AI agenda. The appointment of the Board brings strategic leadership,
sound governance and diverse public- and private-sector perspectives to this mandate,” he said in a statement today.
The board comprises Ministry of Digital Malaysia Secretary General Datuk Fabian Bigar, Deputy Secretary General (Digital Development) Ma Sivanesan a/l Marimuthu, Employees Provident Fund Chief Digital Technology Officer Muhammad Afhzal Abdul Rahman, and Trendcell Sdn Bhd Chairperson and MyTeksi Sdn Bhd Director Foo Yen Ling Adelene.
He also said the appointmens further strengthens AI Malaysia’s institutional
capacity and governance as it advances its national mandate, moving Malaysia’s AI agenda
from strategy to coordinated implementation and impact.
