In its bid to be the first of its kind app in the healthcare industry, GetDoc is now looking to launch GetDocPay, a cashless e-wallet for patients wanting to pay their medical bills in clinics nationwide.
Despite still being in its initial pilot, GetDocPay has successfully marshalled in a whopping 100 clinics around the Klang Valley – all subscribers of its app.
Since the launch of GetDoc in 2015, the company has built close working ties with more than 2,000 doctors across multiple disciplines from both clinics and hospitals. Understanding the need to leverage on digital solutions to help serve their patients better, doctors have been rather supportive of GetDoc’s initiatives and products. (The 100 sign ups by clinics around the Klang Valley region is testament to that fact).
But not all of them are keen on embracing change. Some medical professionals are not willing to pay the bank processing fees, not ready to offer cashless payment facilities to their patients and there are instances of some clinics refusing to replace their credit card terminals. An iconic conundrum facing all disruptive startups, perhaps? Only time will tell.
Taking it all in stride and with plans of expansion is Co-founder and Country Head of GetDoc Malaysia, Jerry Hang who says: “From the Malaysian context itself, we are exploring multiple partnerships to introduce GetDocPay to the larger communities. In the next 6 – 9 months, we hope to extend the reach of GetDocPay across and outside the Klang Valley region.”
He adds, “And after this successful initial pilot, GetDocPay will be made available in Singapore in a couple of months and launching into new geographies which Jireh Group will be entering in the coming months this year.”
