15 September – Kuizz Shah is a songwriter and producer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Haneri (formerly known as Daphne Khoo) is a former Singapore Idol contestant. And together, they are creating music that is as relevant as today.
Contrastingly entitled ‘Silences,’ the track carries with it a wave of upbeat tempo that is both catchy and dance-worthy. It’s hard not to get into the groove of it within just a few seconds of listening.
KUIZZ started making music professionally soon after working with a publishing label in Los Angeles. Since 2016, he has been making waves as a solo artist with an EP and hit tracks like ‘Uncool’ under his belt. Haneri has been out and about working on fresh tunes and climbing billboard charts worldwide. She has since moved to LA to work on her music.
So what brought these two musical souls together?
The two originally met whilst on a writing trip in Los Angeles and worked together on a couple of demos to pitch for other artists. A few months later on a brief trip to Malaysia, Haneri dropped by Maveriq Studios to link up with KUIZZ again to co-write and record a track he produced initially for another artist. Within a couple of hours, the song “Silences” was made and KUIZZ felt Haneri brought the song to a place where other artists he worked with previously weren’t able to. And the rest as they say, is history.
According to KUIZZ, “Silences is about a relationship drifting apart caused by miscommunication and unspoken words.” The song’s chorus delivers an instantaneously hip shaking melody but also manages to maintain its wistful emotion throughout. The artwork and lyric video was also designed by KUIZZ himself who dabbles a bit in graphic design as a hobby. Talk about multi faceted talent, homeboy!

- Last year, KUIZZ released his debut EP “Till The End” which consisted of 6 self-produced tracks and garnered attention from media and pop music fans alike. The 2nd single “Uncool” which amassed over 100,000 plays on Spotify was even featured on Buzzfeed’s “June Playlist” write-up, putting him on the same list as Selena Gomez and Lana Del Rey.
- For weeks coming up to the release of ‘Silences’, KUIZZ has been releasing teaser visuals, creating a stir amongst his growing list of Spotify listeners eagerly awaiting his next single. He gained an immense following there thanks to DJs who began re-posting his music on SoundCloud and then through being included in sought after playlists on Spotify.
- Haneri has also had some major success in the songwriting world co-writing the #1 K-Pop song “Wave” by R3hab X f(AMBER+LUNA).
- As an artist, Haneri has been featured on tracks by some of the world’s best DJ’s like Paul Van Dyke, Avicii and most recently Dash Berlin with his recent release “We Don’t Belong”. Now, those are some SERIOUS heavyweights in the music world, girl!
