Petaling Jaya, 15 February 2017- Award winning Public Relations firm Intelectasia today hosted a study tour for a group of business students from Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran Johor for an insightful learning experience on the industry.

The group of 46 diploma students, accompanied by their lecturer, Nur Syazana Samsuden spent almost two hours at Intelectasia’s office in Damansara Perdana, most of which were spent listening to briefing sessions by senior management, including Chief Executive Officer Manminder Kaur Dhillon.

The students were given a tour of the office and an insight on how PR agencies fulfill its main role as the go-between their clients and the media, besides also offering consultancy, crisis communication and publicity management services.

“One very important aspect of a Public Relations practitioner is to get your story out and find the newsworthiness in a campaign to attract the media to your events,” Manminder said.

Manminder and her team, including Chief Strategy Officer Puspavathy Ramaloo and Content Head and NewstreamAsia Managing Editor Ridzwan Abdullah, went on to explain how practitioners must uphold integrity and ethics in order to build a strong and trusting relationship with the media.

“We must understand the media environment and build relationships with journalists outside of just business,” Manminder added.

The students were inquisitive during the question and answer session, and also had lots of fun when they were asked to play the role as a PR practitioner and demonstrate their pitching skills to media editors.

The students then mingled with Intelectasia staff before heading to another industrial visit in Malacca and later back to Johor.
