Kuala Lumpur, 15 May 2020 – In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) carried out a nationwide contribution to 18 organisations to help ease their burdens during these challenging COVID-19 times, as part of its annual Coffee Break campaign.
PDB together with its partners, distributed complimentary coffee, snacks and shopping vouchers to the Royal Malaysian Police, 15 hospitals, the Ministry of Health and the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).
The campaign partners include Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, Delfi Marketing Sdn Bhd, Podirect Trading (M) Sdn Bhd, iNova Pharmaceuticals (Singapore) Pte Ltd (Malaysia Branch), Barkath Stores (Sunquick Malaysia), Julie’s Marketing Sdn Bhd, Shopee Mobile Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn Bhd.
Speaking about the initiative, PDB’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Azrul Osman Rani said, “In previous years, complimentary coffee and snacks were offered to motorists driving back to their hometowns for the Hari Raya celebrations. Given the current restricted environment this year, we wanted to channel our resources to the front- liners instead, as we feel these would greatly comfort them in this tough time.”
“We hope they will enjoy the complimentary coffee and snacks especially to the Muslims when they break fast. They have been working tirelessly to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic, and we hope our contribution will give them an added boost during their breaks,” he added.
PDB also contributed 94 Gas PETRONAS cooking cylinders as well as food supply and essential items worth RM40,000 to 10 charitable homes throughout Malaysia to ease their cooking needs so that they can celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya festivities with peace of mind.
In addition, PDB is collaborating with Yayasan PETRONAS, the CSR arm of PETRONAS, to spread festive cheer amongst 5,000 deserving families across Malaysia by contributing RM1 million ringgit in kind through this year’s Sentuhan Kasih programme. Together with over 100 PDB station dealers, Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) representatives and other PETRONAS Group volunteers, Yayasan PETRONAS will be handing out food essentials such as rice, milk, oil, eggs, canned food, flour and PETRONAS gift cards to selected families nationwide from 4 May until 5 June 2020.
Azrul added, “Our PETRONAS station dealers, who are equally as passionate as our partners, have voluntarily joined the cause and assisted in procuring the items as well as delivering them to the identified homes across all states in Malaysia. This is indeed a time for us to come together and meaningfully give back to the community that sustains us.”
