KUALA LUMPUR, 15 January 2021 – Having observed the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the people, NGC Energy Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with Squad Insaniah, handed aid to Bandar Tun Razak families in a bid to help them start the year off on good footing.

The ‘Program Ziarah Kasih Bandar Tun Razak’ is NGC’s maiden corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign with Pertubuhan Skuad Insaniah Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor. The aid consisting food and some basic necessities reached a total of 180 families.

“This is part of NGC’s many collaborations with other non-governmental organisations in providing assistance to the community affected by the pandemic. We have had ongoing CSR activities under the theme ‘Giving Back to the Community’ also implemented to mark our 8th anniversary,” said NGC Chief Executive Officer, Julianna Kamaruddin.

In December 2020, NGC had extended assistance to welfare and care centres within communities in its key locations – NGC Energy’s liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling plants and its third party LPG filling plants. A total of RM12,000 was given to four welfare centres in Ipoh, the Klang Valley, Port Dickson and Pasir Gudang.

NGC Energy Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with Squad Insaniah, handed aid to Bandar Tun Razak families.

“The CSR collaboration programme with Squad Insaniah is also a CSR programme within the communities in our key locations. The families receiving the aid were identified through the residents’ committee chairmen in their respective housing areas in Bandar Tun Razak.

“We all know how the pandemic has taken a turn on the economy. We decided to try to lessen the burden that the cost of living imposes on these families who have been deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic too,” she added.

NGC Energy had also organised an earlier CSR programme in April, just after the Movement Control Order (MCO) was first imposed. Its frontliners – lorry drivers and runners via MiraGas distributors, contractors and LPG filling workers at its plants were equipped with personal hygiene equipment.

“We estimate that the effort cost us more than RM100,000 but we did this because it is important to equip not just our team with the necessities to ensure their safety and health, but also to ensure the well-being of our customers,” Juliana added.

On its collaborative CSR programme with NGC, Squad Insaniah president, Mohd Fauzi Ibrahim, said the event was timely as it aided affected communities. It also helped raised public awareness on the importance of working together to overcome the challenges that the country may be facing.

“We always welcome contributions from any company, or even individuals who would like to come forward to help and work with Squad Insaniah”, Mohd Fauzi said.

Also present to witness these contributions were:

>> special duty officer Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak, Mr Kuek Po Guan

>> DBKL coordinating officer, Bandar Tun Razak Branch, Encik Khirzam Rahman,

>> members of residents’ representative council of Bandar Tun Razak,  and the residents’ committee chairmen namely those from Pangsapuri Kos Rendah Bandar Tasik Selatan, Pangsapuri Sri Penara, Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Kampung Selamat and Perumahan Polis Desa Tasik.
