Kuala Lumpur, 23 March 2020 – Zero Waste Malaysia and Caremongering Malaysia have collaborated together and come out with an interactive community map to help the vulnerable during the Movement Control Order announced by Malaysia’s government to combat Covid-19.

Caremongering Malaysia is a social media community group started by an expatriate from Scotland, Joseph Mathers. “Scaremongering is a big problem. We want to switch this around and get people to connect on a positive level,” he stated in the Facebook Group’s description. During the Covid-19 outbreak, there are a lot of organizations and people who need help, especially during the two-week MCO announced by the government.

In the time of this crisis, vulnerable groups of people, especially the elderly who live alone, the homeless as well as single-parent families might need more help during this difficult time.

“In an effort to provide help where help is needed, this community map has made it easier to connect to the local community. The whole community has come together to provide help for the needy. We can simply identify the vulnerable groups who need help and the public who can offer help through the said interactive Google Map,” according to the Facebook page of Caremongering Malaysia.

The interactive community map – a platform that can connect the needy to the public who can offer help for them.

Younger people who are relatively unaffected by the outbreak can lend their hand to provide help for senior citizens to complete the things they need to do. Different help can be provided by young people, such as grocery shopping as well as getting medicines from the pharmacies. So they don’t place themselves at risk during this difficult time.
