KUALA LUMPUR, 1 March 2019 – PETRONAS today launched Yayasan PETRONAS, its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, to deliver broader and deeper impact of its CSR activities across communities in Malaysia.

The launch of Yayasan PETRONAS today was officiated by Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and witnessed by Chairman of Yayasan PETRONAS Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh and PETRONAS President and Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin.

Speaking at the launch, Datuk Ahmad Nizam said that Yayasan PETRONAS is guided by the narrative of ‘Where Good Flourishes’.

“The goal is to create spaces and pathways where we can nurture collaborations among corporations, institutions, organisations, communities, and governments. Yayasan PETRONAS aims to effectively extend what PETRONAS has done for communities and the environment for the last four decades, into greater social value and sustainable impact,” he said.

Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee added: “The incorporation of Yayasan PETRONAS coincides with PETRONAS’ 45th anniversary, and it is with pride we witness the establishment of the philanthropic foundation that will, from today onwards, carry out our CSR initiatives across the nation. We are confident that the Foundation will shape our community efforts to contribute to a sustainable ecosystem that meets the current and future needs of societies.”

Yayasan PETRONAS will focus on these three areas:

o Education: The “Sentuhan Ilmu” programmes will be dedicated to increase opportunities for underprivileged students by realising their potential via Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

o Community Well-being and Development: “Sentuhan Kasih” and “Sentuhan Harapan” programmes will be devoted to efforts to better the standards of living for less privileged communities and youths via sustainable livelihood and better health.

o Environment: The “Sentuhan Alam” programmes will focus on caring for the environment through biodiversity, conservation and carbon neutral programmes.
In the coming months, more initiatives and partnerships will be introduced. In addition to new and enhanced signature programmes, Yayasan PETRONAS will also continue managing current CSR initiatives undertaken by other business divisions and subsidiaries of PETRONAS.
