CyberSecurity Malaysia Organizes Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) for Members of 11 ASEAN and OIC-CERT Countries

SERI KEMBANGAN – CyberSecurity Malaysia, the national cyber security specialist and technical agency organised a cyber security training course under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) for participants from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) member countries. The training program starts from 14 August until 23 August 2017.

The 10-day training course entitled “Certified Incident Management & Effective Defense” is part of the Malaysian Government’s commitment towards the promotion of technical cooperation among developing countries, strengthening of regional and sub-regional cooperation, as well as nurturing collective self-reliance among developing countries.

This is the third cyber security training under MTCP following the success of the two previous years’ training program; a testament to Malaysia’s commitment in leading capacity building initiatives for the OIC-CERT member countries.

Fourteen (14) IT officers and professionals from eleven (11) ASEAN and OIC-CERT countries namely Azerbaijan, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sudan and Vietnam have signed up to participate in this training.

In line with the MTCP’s objective to share Malaysia’s development experience, this course leverages on state-of-the-art cyber security knowledge and cyber range capabilities from domain experts and experienced practitioners. The course focuses on enhancing cyber security skills and operational capabilities specifically in the area of cyber security compliance, incident handling and security assessment. The course serves as a platform to cultivate awareness, nurturing adoption and establishing capabilities to secure information effectively and creating a safer cyberspace. It also provides practical experience in analysing and managing system vulnerabilities and in managing security incidents and defending security parameters.

The training is officiated by General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi bin Mohamed (Retired), the Chairman of Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Advisor to the Chair of the OIC-CERT.

CyberSecurity Malaysia provides specialised cyber security services contributing immensely towards the nation’s objective in preventing and minimising disruptions to critical information infrastructure in order to protect the public, economy, and government services.
