Georgetown, 31 March 2022- SME100 returns to Penang after 10 years, in conjunction with the SAMENTA 35th Anniversary celebrations. The greatly anticipated awards ceremony was held in Setia SPICE Convention Center in Penang.
The SME100 SAMENTA 35th Anniversary awards ceremony was graced with the attendance of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi bin Haji Abdul Razak, Deputy Chief Minister of Penang, Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy, and Penang State Exco for Trade, Industry & Entrepreneurship Development, Dato’ Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Hussain to witness the northern region SMEs’ achievement.
Several other local associations such as Malaysia Printer Association and Penang Furniture and Timber Association joined in to celebrate this momentous occasion.
With official endorsement by the Penang state government, the northern-region SME100 awards received overwhelming response from 178 companies from Penang, Kedah, Perak, and Perlis SMEs, submitting their nominations, exceeding the organisers’ target of 100 nominations.
The nominees have undergone screening by the official credit reporting agency, CTOS, and official auditors, Baker Tilly Malaysia, and the results of 38 SMEs qualified as the SME100 awards winner.
“SME100 continues to be the most prestigious and aspirational awards for SMEs; with local editions now in Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam – making this a truly regional award. The success of the program has also inspired many ‘copycat’ awards, which is a sign of the strength of the awards in promoting the growth of SMEs,” said Datuk William Ng, Managing Director of Business Media International.
