Kuala Lumpur, 18 August 2020 – The Sama-Sama Digital initiative aims to give out RM6.4 million in subsidies to support the growth and development of 2,200 Bumiputera small and micro businesses to sustain in the new normal via digitalisation.

The programme, which is launched today, is an initiative by Exabytes Network Sdn Bhd and Ekuiti Nasional Bhd through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, ILTIZAM, and supported by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), MYNIC, the agency responsible for the MY domain, and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN).

Exabytes chief executive officer (CEO) and founder Chan Kee Siak said some businesses have hesitated or avoided digitalising because of the cost to be invested upfront, therefore, to eliminate this concern, Sama-Sama Digital would provide subsidies to ease the burden of cost.

“In addition to this, our Business e-Solutions simplifies the process. For the small and micro businesses that are seeking to start their ecommerce business, we present to you the All-In-1 e-Commerce Solutions.

“With a total of RM2,200 subsidy, the E-Commerce Solutions features an eCommerce Startup Plan that comes with an online store, payment gateway, workshops and everything else you need so that your store can go online in just three days,” he told a press conference at the virtual launch today.

For small and micro businesses that have already digitalised, the All-In-1 Digital Solutions would provide a matching grant between MDEC and ILTIZAM of up to RM10,000 with a variety of digital packages to choose from so that the businesses could enhance their digital presence and further grow in the online arena.

Meanwhile, MYNIC CEO Datuk Hasnul Fadhly Hasan said the initiative aims to help small and micro businesses be prepared for the global digital economy.

“As with the pandemic, digitalisation is inevitable and at MYNIC, we want to enable digital inclusivity to Bumiputera SMEs out there.

“Not only will these businesses be able to reach a wider market, they will be able to reap other benefits such as an increase in sales and revenue,” he added.
