Kuala Lumpur, 7 December, 2021– Malaysian e-commerce platform Youbeli achieved a two-fold sales growth in the last two years amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. A warehouse facility for the platform was in place from June 2021 to provide better services to its customers. Since the completion of the facility Youbeli, in collaboration with Taiwan’s biggest e-commerce group PChome, now sees its merchants shipping out Taiwanese goods within 24 hours from the time they are ordered and also the shortening of delivery times to just two to three days. Youbeli is currently the only e-commerce platform in Malaysia to feature over half a million products from Taiwan, making it the platform with the widest range of Taiwanese products in Malaysia.
Youbeli’s year-on-year sales have grown by more than twofold in 2021 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. It achieved a 27.07% quarter-on-quarter sales growth in Q2 2021, and a 72.02% quarter-on-quarter sales growth in Q3 the same year. Its sales in October had grown by 148.36% in comparison to that of September, with an order volume growing by 384.85% within the same period.
Many Malaysians have become more comfortable with shopping online during the pandemic, with fresh goods, groceries and snacks being among the essential items most purchased online. This growth in online shopping is not showing any signs of stopping as the numbers of online orders and logistics vehicles hitting the roads are increasing steadily. Many shops that were ordered to close during the lockdown had turned to e-commerce platforms to continue their operations at the first opportunity and were able to transform their business online at the lowest cost possible.
Youbeli also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Indonesian e-commerce platform Blibli in October 2021 which aims to form a collaboration to promote both Malaysian and Indonesian products on both platforms. Youbeli became Blibli’s designated partner whose role is to bring more quality brands and products from Malaysia to Indonesian consumers. Merchants who are facing aggressive competition at home are now more eager to explore new markets beyond the shores of home through e-commerce platforms.
Today, over 5,310 merchants are selling more than 3 million products on Youbeli. The platform has also established a collaboration with the Halal Development Corporation in October 2021 to collectively expand the halal market overseas.
After expanding rapidly for two years, Youbeli is confident in its potential and future. While competition among e-commerce platforms remains fierce, Youbeli strives to build more bridges in the form of more partnerships with e-wallet providers, the logistics industry and more international brands to enhance the shopping experience of its current and future customers.
