“Malaysia provides affordable and better quality of medical series”, said MHTC CEO Sherne Azli
Kuala Lumpur, 13 February 2017: Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) has targeted a promising 30 per cent growth in its quest to market Malaysia as a preferred medical travel destination.
“Generating revenue over RM900 million in 2015 for the country, I am confident that Malaysia is one of the top medical tourism destinations in the world.
“We have exceeded our target revenue of RM1 billion last year and we believe we can achieve over RM2.8 billion in the next three years,” MHTC Chief Executive Officer Sherene Azli told reporters at the launch of MHTC’s #sharemylove campaign here today.
Despite stiff competition from neighbouring countries, Sherene highlights the fact that Malaysia offers affordable medical travel propositions with better qualities in terms of services and area of expertise.
“Compared to other neighbouring countries, we offer better quality medical services without having to burn a hole in your pocket,” she added.
Speaking on the various range of medical services offered in Malaysia, Sherene believes that they have what it takes to cater to the needs of the medical travel sector.
“With all the ongoing promotion and marketing of this campaign, I believe our participating hospitals can cope with supply and demand.”
Among the top services that most medical travellers looked out for in Malaysia are in the area of Oncology, Cardiology, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), blood related and many more.
The ‘Share My Love’ campaign was launched with collaboration of seven budding local artists who created artworks in support of the cause.
The campaign, initiated last year by the Health Ministry was aimed at creating an ongoing awareness of Malaysia’s hospitality as well as excellent offers of medical services.
In the last few years, Malaysia has emerged at the top of several international healthcare and living ratings.
These include bagging the Best Country in the World for Healthcare under the Global Retirement Index in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Under Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Healthcare And Tourism Awards, MHTC, which is an agency under the purview of the Health Ministry, was also chosen as the best travel council in 2016.
