Kuala Lumpur, 12 October 2020 – FWD Takaful Berhad (“FWD Takaful”) introduces FWD Hajj Rider, a unique rider plan for customers to upgrade their Takaful coverage, allowing them to perform their Hajj or Umrah worry free.
Salim Majid Zain, FWD Takaful’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “We’re delighted to support Malaysian Muslims with a comprehensive solution to ensure they’re financially prepared not only when embarking on their journey to perform the Hajj or Umrah, but also when faced with uncertainties that may occur during the pilgrimage itself.”
FWD Hajj Rider provides death and Total Permanent Disability (TPD) coverage up to 400% of the rider sum covered. The plan also provides a spouse compassionate benefit, minimum 50% of the rider sum covered or RM100,000 upon the death of spouse during Hajj or Umrah.
It also offers optional regular cash payment and cash allowance benefits to help customers save for the pilgrimage. Through the extended optional benefits, customers can enjoy:
- Regular cash payment of 3% of rider sum covered every two years,
- Cash allowance of RM2,000 and up to RM10,000 per rider certificate before they embark on their journey to Mecca.

This is timely with Saudi Arabia’s recent announcement that it will gradually open its doors for pilgrims from other countries following its closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.”
The plan covers 100% of the rider’s sum covered on death or Total Permanent Disability due to all causes. For added assurance, FWD Hajj Rider provides an additional 100% of rider sum covered for participants to cover death due the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) virus.
FWD Hajj Rider is available for individuals between the ages of one month old and 65 years old, and provides various coverage and contribution terms to suit customers’ needs.
