KUALA LUMPUR, 27 November 2019: Two years after its inauguration, Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL) celebrated a further achievement having been accredited by the Malaysian Society for Quality Healthcare (MSQH) for four years.
Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Yahya Awang, Chairman of CVSKL said the anniversary was certainly an event to remember as it positioned the hospital ahead in promoting Malaysia as the medical travel destination among foreigners.
“Gaining an accreditation from MSQH is something CVSKL can be proud of because it means we have maintained the best services and is in line with our mission statement – to provide the best patient outcome and experience for each patient, every time,” he said.
The Hospital Accreditation Program of MSQH provides an effective means whereby health care organisations can assess their level of performance against applicable national standards, which have been developed by veteran healthcare professionals and are accepted for nationwide application in Malaysia. The MSQH Hospital Accreditation Standards provide a benchmark against which healthcare organisations can regularly assess their organisational performance and improve continually in an ongoing and reiterative basis.
“It’s a timely achievement as it is Malaysia Year of Medical Travel in 2020. MSQH standards are developed and edited in cooperation with professionals from both public and private health care providers, and consumers. They are reviewed and updated in light of advances in healthcare”, Dr. Yahya added.
Assoc. Prof. Dr Kadar Marikar, Chief Executive Officer of MSQH affirmed that the accreditation gives assurance to patients both local and international that CVSKL is compliant with the latest healthcare standards.
Also present at the event was Dolly Lim, the Chief Operating Officer from the Malaysian Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) who was there to witness the accreditation recognition event. Following this, CVSKL will continue to work closely with MHTC in its efforts to position Malaysia as the preferred cardiology hub among international patients.
“We receive a high volume of international patients due to our proximity to KL Sentral which positions us in line with MHTC’s goal to make Malaysia a cardiology hub. With MHTC’s continuous support, we are anticipating a higher volume of patients next year,” said Timothy Chang, Chief Executive Officer of CVSKL.
9 % of the patients CVSKL received throughout 2019 were international patients. With the Malaysia Year of Medical Travel in 2020 taking place soon, CVSKL was confident to achieve 15% patient arrival next year with more than half to come from Indonesia.
Earlier in February this year, MHTC announced that 60% of foreigners who came to Malaysia to seek various treatment were from Indonesia, with a steady year-to-year growth of 12 to 18%.
