KUALA LUMPUR, 13 Sept – Block your dates people because The Orchid Run & Ride 2017 returns for its third consecutive year, yes THIRD! This upcoming 24th September, all 6,500 participants can expect fun and exciting experiences associated with the event since its inception three years ago.
Organised by the Association of Wives and Women Staff of PETRONAS (PETRONITA), the event aims to raise funds for various charitable causes in Malaysia.
“I am proud to see how much Orchid Run & Ride has grown since 2015 when we first started. Through this event we wish to drive the message of ‘making each step matter’ – to remind everyone that a little goes a long way, and together we can help the less fortunate while promoting a healthy living lifestyle,” said Puan Sri Dr Azura Ahmad Tajuddin, President of PETRONITA.
Aiming to raise RM250, 000, the Orchid Run & Ride 2017 will channel the funds to charitable bodies that work closely with PETRONITA. They include the Paediatric & Congenital Heart Centre (PCHC) of the National Heart Institute Foundation (IJN), Institut Telinga, Pendengaran dan Pertuturan (Institute-HEARS) of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory.
The event continues to attract an increasing amount of participants annually. The event this year was well received as all event categories have been fully sold out – signifying a monumental success in generating public interest!
There are two main categories for the Orchid Run and Ride 2017 as listed below:
• Category A:
o 12km Run – Men’s & Women’s Open (open to ages 16 and above)
• Category B:
o 5km Fun Run (open to ages 7 and above)
o 5km Fun Ride (open to ages 12 and above)
Aside from the run and ride, participants will also be entertained by awesome performances such as the “Rhythmic Gymrama” performance by cochlear implant recipients, percussion band performance by the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory as well as a special performance by local artist/entrepreneur, Joe Flizzow. How exciting!
To turn up the heat even further, participants and F1 fans will be rewarded with a special appearance by the Formula 1 championship winning team, Mercedes AMG PETRONAS. It is evident – the Orchid Run & Ride 2017 is going to be E-P-I-C!
