  • Digital experts shared their insights during the recent Digital Enclave Klang Valley Roadshow 2017  which aimed to educate SMEs with the right online business tools.

Kuala Lumpur 5 April 2017: According to digital experts, SMEs in Malaysia are losing a lot of business opportunities as they lack knowledge in online business. Fortunately, the inaugural Digital Enclave Klang Valley Roadshow 2017 which was held recently aims to educate and assist small and medium enterprises to leverage on technologies such as digital marketing, e-commerce tools, cloud operating system and cyber security to grow their businesses.

The one day event brought together more than 100 entrepreneurs and online business solutions provider and was organized by Strategic Alliance Events

“We wanted to create a platform where key thought leaders of the online business scene can share with the attendees the right tools that are available for them to grow their business online. We hope to play a significant role in the growth of the digital SME community in Malaysia,” said Head of Business Development of Strategic Alliance Events, Jason Chan.

General Manager of Bitdefender Malaysia, Michael Lim, said the digital transformation that has been happening recently and the support of the government is indeed a boon for the SME community to embrace technology and to expand their business online before they lose out to their competition.

Meanwhile, co-founder of Biztory, Bowie Saw,  said business can take advantage of the digital era to do their business and no longer need to have a physical presence like a shop or a store. It would also mean having lower operational expanses and overheads.

Marketing Manager of Locus-T Online, Bryan Tan echoed the sentiments of Saw and said that there is a huge potential of growing the business online but not many SMEs are tapping into it.

“There are around 700,000 SMEs in Malaysia but only a fraction of them  are doing business online and yet 70% of the population are internet users. So, we are looking at 21 million internet users per day,” he added.

Other speakers included Strategic Partner Manager of Google, Rebecca Siccardi who shared ways on how SMEs can grow their business using Google solutions. She spoke at the launch event of ‘The Digital Enclave Klang Valley Roadshow 2017’ event series.
